True, but…
Too low of a calorie level can actually slow your weight loss.
If calorie intake is way too low, your body enters starvation mode.
Your body wants to maintain its weight when it thinks it is starving, so metabolism slows and weight loss stops.
And instead of burning fat stores, it uses lean tissue or muscle to provide some of the calories needed to keep functioning.
This leads to loss of muscle, which slows your metabolic rate, resulting in fewer pounds lost.
So be careful out there…consult your doctor before you diet.
